Getting started

Install Pinguin on Slack, open the Home tab, and send your first broadcast.

What is Pinguin?

Pinguin is a Slack app for sending broadcasts — one message to hundreds of channels or direct messages at once. Messages appear under your name and avatar (or a custom profile), with audience lists, scheduling, templates, CTAs, and engagement analytics built in.

Install Pinguin

Add Pinguin to your workspace from the Install page. You'll authorize the OAuth scopes Pinguin needs to read channels, post messages, and track engagement.

Need a walkthrough?

Our step-by-step Guides include screenshots for installing Pinguin and sending your first broadcast.

Open the Home tab

After installation, open Pinguin from the Slack sidebar and select the Home tab. You'll see Welcome to Pinguin! with sections for Analytics, Broadcasts, Customization, and Settings.

  • Analytics — browse past sends and per-channel performance
  • Broadcasts — compose channel broadcasts, direct messages, and scheduled sends
  • Customization — audience lists, sender profiles, and templates
  • Settings — workspace and personal preferences

Send your first broadcast

The fastest way to send is the /broadcast slash command. Type your message after the command and Pinguin shows an ephemeral preview — only visible to you — with options to edit, add an image, toggle link previews, and send.

/broadcast We've just launched our new feature — check it out!

Note

Pinguin must already be a member of at least one channel before /broadcast works. Use /invite @Pinguin in any channel, or add the bot when creating audience lists with channel prefixes.

Take the product tour

From the Home tab, click Start Tour to open the Pinguin Tour — an in-app walkthrough covering broadcasts, audience lists, analytics, and more.
